Registering with 可及性服务

At 可及性服务 (AS), we believe in working with students collaboratively to establish services, and we value a highly interactive approach. All students seeking accommodations are required to disclose their disability to AS by completing the AS registration process.

We use the information gathered from the request form, 文档, and the student's self-report to verify the presence of a qualifying disability, identify any barriers in the university setting, and determine accommodations necessary for equal access. We evaluate accommodation requests on a case-by-case basis.

Students are welcome to register with AS at any time. 然而, academic and housing accommodation determinations are only made for 威尼斯人平台 students or students residing in campus housing. To ensure the timely implementation of reasonable accommodations and support services, please submit the Accommodation Request Form and 文档 as soon as possible.

Please note that AS cannot grant retroactive accommodations. 因此, academic accommodations should be requested at least six weeks prior to the start of the semester, and housing accommodations should be requested at least six weeks prior to the housing accommodation deadline established by 可及性服务 and 住宅 and 通勤生活.

  1. Complete the Accommodation Request Form

    2. Previously registered students who wish to request new accommodations or changes to their currently approved accommodations should submit an ‘Additional Accommodation Request’ on 适应.

      1. Describe the nature of your disability.

      2. Explain the impact of your disability in the university setting.

      3. List any past accommodations in academic, employment, or high-stakes testing situations.

      4. Describe the accommodations requested.

      5. List the documents you will submit in connection with your request.

  2. Submit supporting 文档 (See 可及性服务 Documentation Guidelines)

  3. Schedule a meeting with an AS staff member. Students will receive an invite to schedule a meeting to their 威尼斯人平台 email address and will be scheduled on the 适应 platform.

  4. Students will receive written notification of the accommodation determination to their 适应 portal and a notification will be sent to their University email address.

    1. Each request is considered on a case-by-case basis. Accommodations are determined based on an individual’s need for equal access and equal educational opportunity, which may not reflect a student’s preference nor guarantee their success.

Academic Accommodations: Students approved for academic accommodations will receive a letter on 适应. Students must submit a ‘Semester Instructor Notification Request’ on 适应 each semester prior to the start of the classes.

房屋设施: Students approved for housing accommodations will receive a letter on 适应. Notice of approval will also be sent to 住宅 and 通勤生活.

  • Students who wish to request renewal of their housing accommodations, must complete an ‘Additional Accommodation Request’ on 适应 each year prior to the housing accommodation deadline as determined by 可及性服务 and 住宅 and 通勤生活.

Academic Accommodations: Students approved for academic accommodations will receive a letter on 适应.

  • 测试设施: Due to the anonymous exam grading policy, approved testing accommodations will be communicated to the Office of Student Affairs. Student Affairs coordinates alternative testing arrangements for law school students.
  • Classroom Accommodations: Students must submit a ‘Semester Instructor Notification Request’ on 适应 each semester prior to the start of the classes.
